The cruise was a breathtaking experience. Nevermind the tourists who like to jump queues and ask more of everything for free. Nevermind the claustrophobic sleeping cabin. Nevermind the dhal-potato-dhal-rice menu. And nevermind the sleazy and tastelessly performed Las Vegas-styled topless show that was visited by grandmothers from India. The real experience lay in the beautiful sunrise, the stunning waters, and the tiny-ness of the 14-storey Superstar Virgo. The feeling of seeing only the sea and sky, and nothing else all around, is indeed an overpowering feeling.

Speaking of overpowering feeling, I found out that one need not go on a cruise to feel that one’s life is totally in the hands of the Creator. I was waiting for the bus opposite Novena MRT, to go to work. I momentarily stood near the JC DeCaux/Cox/whatever poster. Then I moved to under the bus stop. A few seconds later, fellow commuters and bystanders were struck by a loud noise – a large branch had fallen from the overhanging tree, smashing on the spot near where I stood just a few seconds ago. If Allah willed, I would not have shifted my butt to the bus stop, and I might not have been typing this entry. In that instance of realization, I felt a feeling of security and peace. And at that moment in time, I fully realized the meaning of the term, famous for its use by the Sahabah and also the Prophet s.a.w. – By He Who holds my life in His Hand.

Alhamdulillah that you have been protected and saved by He Who holds your life in His Hands.
It only brings to mind the need to prioritise and value what we have now as it is akin to having another chance in life.
Wallahu'a'alam...
Assalumualikum Brother, I (Isa here) was just wondering how you are able to write so good...as in use 'big' works and make reading so interesting?....Anyway may Allah bless you and your wife and remember that life itself is an 'ayat' to the greatness of Allah(s.w.t). So insyallah we all can use the exprience to really be greatfull for the lifes we live each day given to us by Allah. Allah but says: Kun Faya Kun.
There was a verse I came across when I was reading the Quran which really struck me: Al Nisa:148 : What can God gain by your punishment, if you are greatful and ye believe? Nay, it is God that recogniseth (all good) and know all things.
InsyaALlah you can read the commentry given by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. See you in class today. Ma'salam.
Salam my dear brothers,
Thank you for your comments. It is only through Him that I can use "big words" to express myself.
Alhamdulillah.
